Increased horsepower
Komatsu America Corp.’s new WA600-6 wheel loader is
equipped with a Tier 3 compliant engine. The 118,385-lb. unit
is designed primarily for quarry, sand and gravel, industrial,
and smaller mining applications. It offers improved productivity
and lower fuel consumption than the WA600-3. The WA600-6
is powered by a Komatsu six-cylinder engine, producing 502
hp at 1,800 rpm, a significant increase in horsepower over
the previous model. Komatsu’s Tier 3 engine is equipped with
innovative technologies, including an electronic-control system
to optimize vehicle performance, a heavy-duty high-pressure
common rail fuel injection system, a new combustion system
for reduced noise and fuel consumption, a cooled exhaust gas
recirculation system and an air-to-air charge air-cooling system.

Loader is first of new series
Le Tourneau Technologies Inc.’s new L-1150 is specifically designed to load 150- to 200-ton haul
trucks. With its 1,205-horsepower engine and a standard 25-cu.-yd. bucket, this machine
is the first model of a new platform for LeTourneau’s loaders. The L-1150 fea-
tures a redesigned cab, offering improved ergonomics and greater
visibility for the operator. Other new features include an electric-
drive system providing true all-wheel-drive. In addition, the
L-1150 comes equipped with LeTourneau Technologies’ new
LINCS II control system, which allows the operator to monitor
hydraulics, electronics, engine and traction drive through a
touch-screen dash display. The L-1150 can be ordered with a choice
of Cummins or Detroit Diesel engines.

Company offers loader in new size class
The Cat 993K wheel loader offers a new size class in the
Caterpillar line. The 993K loader capacity matches perfectly
with the Cat 777 (four pass) and 785 (six pass) off-highway
trucks. Built on an all-new platform, the loader features Z-bar
linkage, hydraulics and power train that deliver improved penetration into the pile and high breakout forces – 20 percent more
than the 992G. The increased performance and capacity result
in a 15 to 20 percent improvement in productivity compared to
the 992G, says the company. The new loader also features the
Cat C32 ACERT engine for increased performance.

Power for digging, climbing
The Kawasaki 92ZV- 2 wheel loader is designed from the
ground, up – from the chassis, to the transmission, to
the hydraulic systems, to the cab. With a fuel-efficient
Cummins QSM11 Tier 3 emissions engine, the loader
is engineered to provide power for digging as well as hill
climbing. The hydraulics supply improved breakout force
and lifting capacity. This allows the 92ZV- 2 to dig bank
material easily, says the company.
